Narrative Theory - Kim

Narrative theory (narratology), is a term created by Walter Fisher which is based on the concept that people are essentially storytellers. Storytelling is one of the oldest and most universal forms of communication and so individuals approach their social world in a narrative mode and make decisions and act within this narrative framework (Fisher 1984). But in our film, I don’t think it fit the theory, so I’ll just simply explain it.

Equilibrium: Everything is normal
Disruption: Something happened
Resolution: Realized that is wrong
Restored Order: Find the way to solve out
New Equilibrium: A new life after they solve out the problem.

Research On Institutions – Kim

I was looking for some productions companies are good for our film, and I found that Focus Features could be the productions for our film. It is the art house films division of NBC Universal's Universal Pictures, and it acts as both a producer and distributor for its own films and a distributor for foreign films. Also Art House is strongly fit to the independent film, I think that Focus Features should be the best production company for own movie, and it produced quite a lot movie, like; Brokeback Mountain, The American, Pride And Prejudice.

Research on institutions- Katharina

I was researching in the internet so find out which film institutions could be the right one or the best fitting film institutions.

The first institution that I was thinking of was “SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT”.
Summit Entertainment is famous for their Independent movies, they are specialised on Independent movies.
I was thinking of a movie that Summit Entertainment produced and I came up with the Twilight saga, which has an woman as an protagonist.

Perfect Audience - Kim

Our movie is an independent movie base on a girl's feeling.I think it will attract more girls than boys because i dont think boys will like this kind of film, they will mostly prefer more fighting shot or detactive action movie. On the other hand, i think this movie can attract teenage girl or couple very much, because the main story is about a girl's feeling and we keeps things simple; like their costume are very common to make audience feel that this story could happened to people around you and maybe attract people that they've been to this situation before as well.

Animatic of our Storyboard- Katharina, Kim & Zoe

This is an animatic of our storyboard. This is basically the last step before our actual movie is uploaded. It shows the audience what is happening when to the soundtrack. It also features the titles we wish to include.
We've done this a bit wrong, as we haven't included all the shots that will actually take place in the movie. Instead we've done an illustration of each scene, which hopefully allows the audience to have a good grasp of what will happen.
Also, please ignore the lack of snow, we drew these before the blizzard arrived at Gstoun.

Props and Costumes- Kahtarina, Kim & Zoe

Costumes: Anna in the 'flashback' scenes

  • A dark blue trench coat
  • Black Hunter wellies
  • Tights
  • Furry Hat
  • Grey Gloves

Costumes: Anna in the 'reality' scenes
  •  Blue checkered pajama pants
  • Wooly socks
  • White tank top
Costumes: Paul
  • Jeans
  • Leather jacket over a hoodie
  • Vans
We will not be needing a great deal of props in our movie, apart from the most obvious one, snow.
Otherwise, we'll include a watch for Anna to look at when she is getting out of bed and sheets which she can fold. There will also be a mirror in which she observes her face. The walls in the room we have chosen to shoot in is already decorated with loads of colourful and quirky photographs which adds a more personal essence to the scene.
